Set it aside and be still

Be Still … and Know

We deepen our practice in many ways. Some days it takes a lot to put down whatever task is calling our name to make it to class. We know that is one way we prepare for class, but what about all the other ways. We may slip an extra glass of water in during lunchtime to hydrate our bodies for our balances. Or tackle our list of phone calls earlier in the day, so we aren’t anticipating a call and rushing in the last minute before class, tension filling our shoulders.

But what if the best way to prepare is less about our hands and more about our heart? Perhaps the best most fulfilling way to prepare for class is personal bible study and prayer. Those cherished final moments of centering prayer are then fueled my our moving meditation. Which is in turn fueled by the very word that draws our minds into the Truth of God and our right relationship with him through the personal work of Jesus Christ. Just as we prepare our bodies to enter into stillness by working out and intensely diving into movement, we prepare our hearts and center our soul for a calming peace and surrender by diving into the Word of God in our time outside of class.

This can be a struggle at times, just as putting aside our to-do pile is to get to class. I know this at times just as much as the next gal! So I ask, what have you been reading lately? I’d love your feedback of chapters or books of the Bible and what you see in them that is powerful in your life lately.
