This week I had the pleasure of sitting under a well-skilled teacher as the participant, listening to her guidance and communicating with myself and the Lord through dance-like movements. As we neared almost two hours of moving and grooving, we stopped just short of entering that final well-earned resting posture we all anticipate with eagerness. Our instructor invited us to experience a minute of meditation.

As I rest my hands upon my chest, I entered into a private moment with the Lord. I drew my stacked hands forward in offering of my heart to the Lord my God, true Guide, and friend. The 60 seconds flew by as I communed with him, appreciating His presence and work in my life (gosh I need Him, don’t you?!)

I let go of the temptation to sweep the hair that had brushed across my face, and disciplined my heart with the blessing of surrender to the God that is bigger and more valuable than any of my months problems, and even that silly little hair that at this point was tickling my face! Svasana came and went, and my hands and stillness of body remained fast in meditation. But like any moment, whether washing a stack of dirty dishes, cleaning up a toddler’s creatively selected art canvas, or interacting with a less than pleasant coworker, it was a moment that left me changed because it was a moment given to the Lord. In His presence we find His peace and joy and invite it to become our own. This is what draws us to practice at ALIGN. Moments of discipline and effort that open opportunity for body to sweep into unity with mind and soul in a creative dance that enhances each one.

As I let my hands fall loose to my thighs in physical transition to leave class, I imagined these hands having been so full to overflowing from these gifts from the Lord that they broke open releasing from my heart to all those around.

Share His love, share your ALIGN practice.
